Quick Guide: Car Charging Indicators
This page gives details on how to tell if the cars in our fleet are actively charging. Never leave a car without ensuring that it is actively charging. Failure to recharge a car in readiness for the next user may result in an administration charge being applied to your account.
Please note that for many of our vehicles, if the unlock button on the vehicle key fob is pressed whilst the vehicle is charging, the charging session will be terminated and a new charging session will need to be started.

After successful initiative of an active charging session, the screen shown in the image below will be displayed on the vehicle’s instrument display. If it displays ‘in Charging‘ at location 3 in the image below, then the vehicle is charging. After one minute the screen will go blank and there will no longer be any indication from the vehicle as to whether it is actively charging.
Kia e-Niro 4+ [KT21 EGC]
There are two ways to tell if the Kia e-Niro is charging:
- the green indicator lamps at the base of the windscreen will flash in accordance with the manufacturer’s documentation as shown in Fig 1 below [click images to expand]; and
- the red charging indicator symbol at the bottom of the speedometer binnacle is illuminated as shown in Figs 2 & 3 below.

Mitsubishi Outlander GX4h PHEV [OY65 VHW]
The Mitsubishi Outlander is charging when the red charging indicator symbol is illuminated in the vehicle’s instrument cluster as shown below [click images to expand]:

BMW i3 REx [SN68 OLO]
The BMW i3 is charging when the coloured light surrounding the charge port flashes blue:

Renault Zoe ZE40 R110 [CF68 ZGL]
The Renault Zoe is charging when the Z.E. indicator above the charging port slowly flashes blue.
If ‘Ongoing Checks’ is shown on the instrument display then the car is NOT charging – either the cable is not plugged in properly or the charging session has not been successfully started.

Nissan Leaf Tekna [SC17CXF]
The Nissan Leaf is charging when the blue charging status indicator lamps at the base of the windscreen flash in accordance with the excerpts from the vehicle manual displayed below:
