Flat roofs, as anyone who has one will tell you, can be a nightmare.  They seem to leak water in, and heat out, and adding insulation on the inside can make the ceiling too low, and done badly, can encourage condensation, and lead to rotting timbers.

However, adding phenolic board insulation to the outside, can make the roof deck into a “warm roof” – eliminating internal condensation, reflecting summer heat and you keep all your internal ceiling height.  Top off with one of the newer roof coverings, and you should have a well insulated and trouble free roof.
